Casa isla mía

Casa Isla Mía restaurant branding
Bringing Puerto Rican Cuisine to the Houston area, Casa Isla Mía offers expats and locals alike a dining experience featuring native sazón (island spices) in dishes that are authentic and delicious. Additionally, they offer freshly baked pan de agua and sobao bread, staples in Puerto Rican homes.
The founders asked me to develop a branding that reflected Puerto Rican tradition, but would also have universal appeal. The logo solution I developed brought together a few items easily associated with the island, such as an avocado, the sun and a country shack, into a single, cohesive logo that celebrates tradition, as well as appealing to nostalgia for Puerto Rican food and traditions.
This colorful branding program further invokes authenticity and tradition by using mundillo lace (A weaving technique unique to Puerto Rico.) as a background pattern.
